Odisha CM meets Jaga-Balia New Delhi: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met Jaga-Balia, the now separated twins of Kandhamal, for the first time at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and enquired about their health condition here on Sunday.

The CM also held discussion with the team of the doctors led by Dr. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, Chief of the Neurosciences Centre of the hospital, who are treating the twins since July, and asked them about the health condition of the babies. Director of the hospital was also present.

The Chief Minister, who is slated to conclude his three-day tour to the National Capital this evening, also met Jaga-Balia’s parents Bhuiya Kanhar and Puspanjali Kanhar and assured them further support.

While speaking to the reporters, Patnaik expressed his happiness over the health condition of the babies and wished them speedy recovery. He also assured all sorts of help for the complete treatment of the twins.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, following the repeated media report by Kalinga TV on the plight of Jaga-Balia, took initiative and sanctioned Rs 1 Crore from the CM’s Relief Fund for the twins’ surgery.

The twins were admitted in the hospital on July 14 and were kept under observation till the first operation which was conducted on August 28. The second phase separation surgery was conducted on October 25.

Balia, who was quite critical in comparison to Jaga, was taken off ventilator support yesterday and both the babies are said to be out of danger and gradually recovering.
