Odisha CM launches 2 free healthcare programmes

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to improve healthcare delivery in the state, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched four healthcare programmes including two free health schemes at the state Secretariat here on Tuesday.

The four health care programmes which Patnaik launched included ‘Aama Clinic Yojana’ for urban people, ‘NIDAAN Yojana’ for free dialysis at designated government hospitals, on-line report under ‘ANMOL Yojana’ and ‘SAHAY’ scheme for free diagnostic services at public health centres.

“Today we have launched two free and quality diagnostic services for people. I also gave prizes to the districts which have done best in reducing the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR),” said Naveen while speaking to the reporters post the inauguration.

According to reports, the state government will provide identified diagnostic services free of cost to all patients in the public health facilities of the state from January, 2018 under NIDAAN Scheme. Besides, additional diagnostic services such as High-End Pathology Test, Digital X-Ray, CT Scan and MRI will be provided free of cost in government facilities in PPP mode by March, 2018.

SAHAY is the other scheme, which the CM launched. Under this scheme, the state government will provide free dialysis services to all patients in the public health facilities from January 1, 2018. As many as 127 Dialysis machines will be installed in PPP mode at 25 District Headquarters Hospitals and at one Community Health Centre (CHC) Narasinghpur in Cuttack district by March 2018.

The state government has made a budgetary provision of about Rs 600 crores over five year to provide free diagnostic and free dialysis services in the state.

In a move to provide quality healthcare in urban area, the state government will provide additional services in Urban Clinics under AMA Clinics. The service includes Fixed Day Services in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Medicine and Geriatrics, Eye-care, Physiotherapy and Psychiatric services. Urban population of over 45 lakh in 27 cities and towns will be benefited under this progrmme.

With a view to equip the ANMs with the latest technology, the state government has decided to provide the ANMOL Tablet Computers to all the ANMs. ANMOL will help in providing real time service to the beneficiaries especially, the pregnant women, mother and new-born in the state.

The Chief Minister also highly appreciated the efforts of Collectors and Health teams of Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Keonjhar and Balangir districts and awarded them for their commendable work in reducing the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR).

Among others Odisha Health Minister Pratap Jena, Chief Secretary AP Padhi, Development Commissioner R.Balkrishnan, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Health & FW P.K. Meherda and Director, NRHM Salini Pandit also attended the launching programme.
