Odisha CM Inaugurates First Luxury Houseboat Garuda In Chilika

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has inaugurated first luxury houseboat ‘Garuda’ in Barkul, Chilika. The inauguration has been done in a virtual mode.

The inaugural function was graced by Tourism Minister Ashwani Patra, Khordha District Collector Sangram Keshari Mohapatra, SP Shuvendu Kataria, Tourism Director Sachin R Yadav, Zilla Parishad Development Group Chairman D Murali Krishna, V. Srinivasa, Gautam Agrawal, Anand.

The Odisha government has begun river cruises in an effort to upgrade the tourism industry in the State as the tourism industry has been harshly affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The cruise will provide a five-star experience to the visitors. The tour packages shall be focused on tourists and shall cover Bhitarkanika National Park and adjoining areas of Gahirmatha Wildlife Sanctuary which will include an overnight stay along with full board meals, activities, and cruising.

Besides, there will be two floors housing two suite rooms and four premium rooms, a bar, and a restaurant on the luxury houseboat ‘Garuda’. An open-air lobby will also be built for meetings and conferences, added reports.

Meanwhile, Silver City Boat Club in Cuttack has completed 1 year of successful operation. It has one of its kind Floating Dining Facility on River Mahanadi.
