Odisha CM gives nod to Rs 100 cr Developmental project for Kantilo’s Nilamadhab Pitha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday gave nod to the project for the all-round development of the famous Kantilo’s Nilamadhav Pitha in Nayagarh district of the State. About Rs 100 crores will be spent for the project while the same will be completed within 18 months, say reports. For success of the project, the CM sought cooperation of the people of Kantilo.

As per reports, a high level meeting was held today chaired by the CM where discussions were held over the Master plan prepared on the development of the famous Nilamadhab pitha of Kantilo.

Nilamadhab pitha is deeply related to Jagannath culture. As per legends the lord was being worshipped by the hermit king Biswabasu at this place. To take a glimpse of this ancient incarnation of the Lord, large numbers of devotees visit this place across the year.

The Odisha CM’s 5T secretary VK Pandian had visited the Nilamadhab Pitha last week as directed by the CM. During the visit he had talked to the servitors as well as locals and issued directive to prepare a master plan for the project.

The master plan includes revival of the temple, renovation of the place surrounding the temple, beautification of the Chandan pond, development of the nearby roads, garden and parking development as well as safety of the Mahanadi River bank.

Also, the project includes renovation of the staircase leading to the temple as well as the east, west, north and south gates. Also, facilities will be created for smooth darshan by senior citizens and physically challenged persons. Besides, development of the Rasabihari mandap, Raghunath mutt and Batamangala temple  will be taken up in this project. Also a cloak room will be made for the visitors while lift lobby and sky-bridge will be erected in the western gate of the temple.
