Odisha CM flags-off ‘Mu Hero… Mu Odisha’ programme

Cuttack: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday flagged-off the ‘Mu Hero’ programme at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here.

Patnaik flagged-off the programme under Biju Yuva Vahini, a voluntary programme that aims to promote youth leadership (in the age group of 15 to 35 years) and sports at community level.

“I am very glad to have launched  the ‘Mu Hero… Mu Odisha’ programme today. I am sure that many of our youth from across the state will participate in this programme,” said Patnaik while speaking to the newsmen.

“Odisha is the land of heroes. Every house in every village and town has Gopabandhu Das, Madhu Babu, Biju Babu and Dharmapada. It is our duty to acknowledge and respect their contribution to our society,” he said while addressing the gathering.

“Everyone either he or she who is either a doctor, engineer, farmer or ordinary person has different talents. Everyone’s cooperation and contribution will help the society to walk on the path of development,” he added.

Apart from launching the ‘Mu Hero… Mu Odisha’ programme, the CM also launched the Biju Yuva Vahini website.

Patnaik also felicitated many outstanding youth for their success in different fields. He felicitated weightlifter Jhilli Dalabehera, Blind Cricketer Jafar Iqbal, Loco Pilot Muni Tiga, Human Robot inventor Nilamadhab Behera, mountaineer Swarnalata Dalai, President Medal winner Mamata Dalai.

Six vehicles were also flagged-off by the CM during the event. The vehicles will move across the state for the next two months and findout youths with unique personality and achievement. Later, they will be felicitated.

The ‘Mu Hero’ programme initiative is aimed at identifying and acknowledging unsung talents from each panchayat and ULB of Odisha.

Many Ministers, Secretaries, MPs and MLAs of the state had gathered to witness the flagging-off ceremony of ‘Mu Hero… Mu Odisha’ programme.
