Odisha CM directs authorities to remain prepared, speaking at Disaster management committee meet

Bhubaneswar: Every life counts and every life is precious, keeping this in view Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik on Friday directed authorites to remain prepared to tackle any natural calamity.

The CM was speaking at the Disaster Management Committee meeting that was held virtually.

The CM said that June to October in every year is very important since natural calamities including cyclone, drought and floods. Hence the preparations should be robust, to face such challenges.

Preparation for emergency relief, distribution of food and drinking water, availability of medicines, health and animal care facilities to be arranged beforehand, he said.

He also advised to operate the District level Emergency Centers for 24 hours mode and to keep ready sufficient food and animal food.

The CM asked to give special attention to pregnant women, children, widow, senior citizens and physically and mentally retarded people.

Currently there are 879 cyclone shelters. Another 55 such centres are being constructed, informed Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Pramilla Mallick.
