Odisha CM congratulates Michael Debabrata Patra on being appointed as deputy governor of RBI

Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also congratulated Odisha-born Patra for his new responsibility.

The Union government today appointed of Michael Debabrata Patra as the new deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
A native of Odisha’s Cuttack, Patra will replace Viral Acharya who left office on July 23 last year six months before his term was scheduled to end.
Currently, Patra is working as the Executive Director of the Monetary Policy Department. He is the fourth Deputy Governor of the RBI along with NS Vishwanathan, BP Kanungo and MK Jain.
Patra is a Phd in Economics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. Before moving to the Monetary Policy department in October 2005, he was an adviser in the department of economic analysis and policy in charge of international finance, money and banking.
