Odisha CM approves master plan to spend Rs 1500 Cr for upgradation of OUTR

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday approved a master plan to spend a sum of Rs 1500 crore for upgradation of the newly-created Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR), formerly known as the College of Engineering and Technology (CET), in Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, Naveen Patnaik approved the master plan to spend Rs 1500 crore in three years for the upgradation of OUTR with an aim to develop it at par with eminent institutes like IIM, IIT and NIT.

Patnaik approved the master plan while reviewing various aspects including infrastructure, academics and administration of OUTR during a high-level meeting.

Sources said that Rs 1000 crore will be spent in the first year itself for the development of the requisite infrastructure and human resources.

Currently, there are 4600 students in OUTR. However, 10,000 students will get the opportunity to study at the institute in the next 5 years.

During the review meeting, the CM interacted with students, faculties and advised them to aspire for excellence in every vocation they opt to realise the dreams of the nation. He emphasised on curriculum on new-age technologies, research, quality education and fostering of start-up culture.
