Odisha CM allocates Rs 70 Cr for development of Chandi Mandir in Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday allocated Rs 70 crore for the development of Chandi Mandir in Cuttack.

Patnaik allocated the money after the officials of Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation (OBCC) Limited presented him the plan for the temple’s development under 5T Initiative’s Integrated Development of Heritage, Monuments and Tourist Destination programme.

A boundary wall and gates in all four directions of the shrine will be erected and illuminated with the aim to make the temple premises more beautiful and attractive.

Plans also have been finalised to construct new Jagamohan, Yagyan Mandap, Chandipatha Mandap, Mundan Mandap, Hanuman Temple and Kitchen and install the Khondolite stones on the floor.

The Chandi Mandir will have a police control room, cloak room, prasad distribution system, drinking water facilities for the devotees. Besides, CCTV cameras will be installed in and around the temple for safety purposes.

As per the CMO’s press note, there will be a guest house for the travellers, temple priests and an office room along with a parking facility and landscaping. The 18 shop owners who will be displaced due to the project will be provided shops for their business.

It is to be noted here that Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian had visited Chandi Mandir to make an assessment of the proposed project.
