Odisha Chief Secy Directs To Ensure Uninterrupted Power Supply

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra reviewed power supply situation in the state today.

Reportedly, the high level meeting was organised on digital mode from State Lokseba Bhawan. The Principal Secretary Energy Nikunjabihari Dhal outlined the issues for discussion in the meeting.

GRIDCO (Grid Corporation of Odisha), OPTCL (Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited), OHPC (Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Ltd), OPGC (Odisha Power Generation Corporation) along with other power producing companies and DISCOMs (Distribution Company) participated in deliberations.

After looking into the updates, Chief Secretary Mahapatra also directed to ensure power supply to all areas of the State both rural and urban.

Mahapatra further added as there was rising heat and examination of the students would commence shortly, the DISCOMs should ensure power supply to domestic users and commercial establishments on priority.

There will be no load regulation during day time, directed Mahapatra to DISCOMs. Adding to it, OHPC has been asked to ramp up generation to meet the deficit during day time.

Notably, the Energy Department of Odisha informed that the present deficit is a temporary situation. The peak power demand has gone up by almost 10 percent due to the hot weather conditions.

Besides, the Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) would be asked to supply adequate coal to the IPPs (Independent power producers) and improve the quality of coal supplied to OPGC.

It it is pertinent to mention that the discussion in the meeting has showed that power supply situation is quite under control, and it would be better very shortly by 1st week of May.
