Odisha Chief Secy, 5T Secy Visit Rourkela To Review Progress Of Hockey Stadium

Rourkela: Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra and 5T Secretary V K Pandian visited Rourkela to review the progress of work on the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium at Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) Campus and other development projects today.

Reportedly, Odisha will host Men’s Hockey World Cup, 2023. The world cup matches will be held jointly at Kalinga Hockey Stadium Bhubaneswar and at Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium. The stadium will have a spectator capacity of over 20,000. Practice turfs, advanced fitness centre and floodlights for night time matches have been provisioned at the stadium.

They also visited Udit Nagar High School to review the progress of Smart Classroom, e-Library, Modern Science Lab, playground, and other infrastructure Government High Schools in Sundargarh are getting a facelift in line with the state government’s flagship initiative High School Transformation Under 5T initiative. The Chief Minister dedicated 67 transformed government high schools in Sundargarh during phase 1 of the programme.

Adding to it they also spoke to Maa Tarini SHG members which is a local Women Self Help Group has been engaged to manage the cold storage.

Principal Secretary Industries Hemant Sharma, Sports and Youth Services Secretary R. Vineel Krishna and IDCO Managing Director Bhupinder Singh Poonia, MLA Rourkela & District Planning Committee Chairman Sarada Prasad Nayak, Sundargarh Collector Nikhil Pavan Kalyan, ADM Rourkela cum RMC Commissioner Dr Subhankar Mohapatra, senior officials of the district and Rourkela Municipal Corporation were also present.
