Odisha celebrates Christmas with religious fervour

Bhubaneswar: Holy Christmas is being celebrated with pomp and gaiety accompanied by religious fervour across Odisha today.

People from all walks life overwhelmingly took part in the midnight mass sans their religious faith and soaked in the holiday spirit.

People from Christian community mingled at all churches located in the Twin City Cuttack-Bhubaneswar and sang carols, hymns and exchanged gifts on the occasion. The churches wore a dive look and lit beautifully to attract prayer offerors as well as visitors.

Children in large numbers were also seen at all major churches in Bhubaneswar like St Vincent’s Catholic Church at Janpath in Bhubaneswar and Church of Christ (Union Church) at Unit-4 most dressed in their best clothes, youngsters painted the cities a literal red with Santa Claus costumes and caps.

Almost all star hotels in the city are organising Christmas parties to mark the occasion. Other hotels were seen preparing special bakery and confectionary items to woo customers.

Similarly, the Churches in the Millenium City Cuttack also witness a heavy crowd of believers who gathered for sang Christmas carols to mark the birth of Jesus Christ. To name a few, Holy Rosary Cathedral at Cantonment Road and Odia Baptist Church at Mission road organised Mass and Eucharist — a tradition of sharing the bread and wine on the occasion.
