Subarnapur: Ganja worth lakh was seized from a car after it plunged in to a canal on Subarnapur-Binika road in the district today.
While the driver of the car managed to escape from the spot, an occupant of the Honda City car has been arrested.
Acting on a tip-off about the illegal transportation of the contraband in the car, a team of Excise sleuths chased the car. The driver of the car, however, lost control of the wheels and the car plunged into a canal. The car was later pulled out from the canal.
“We are further interrogating the man to ascertain the involvement of any gang in illegal smuggling of ganja,” said an excise official.
