Odisha Cabinet recommends dissolution of 15th Legislative Assembly

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet on Saturday recommended to the Governor for dissolution of 15th Legislative Assembly, informed Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi on Saturday.

The decision came after a cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, was held at the State Secretariat here in this evening.

Briefing media persons soon after the cabinet meeting, Padhi said, “The first agenda of today’s cabinet meeting was to recommend the dissolution of Legislative Assembly after the election process is over. It is a formality mandatorily done before the declaration of election results.”

“ Last Assembly was constituted on June 12, 2014. Hence, its term ends on June 11, 2019. Hence, this resolution was made today,” he added.

Padhi further said, “The second agenda of the meeting was on certain measures taken after Cyclone Fani.”

The State Cabinet has approved proposals for release of financial assistance for the post-cyclone relief and restoration works, he said.

A sum of Rs 24 lakh was sanctioned as ration allowance for all government officials engaged in relief and restoration works.

The cabinet also approved Rs 15 lakh for cleaning each pond in Puri district and additional financial assistance of Rs 1000 to each affected family of the district.

It also approved a hike in the daily wage of the workers hired from the neighbouring states. The skilled workers will get Rs 555 as against Rs 370 while the semi-skilled and non-skilled workers will receive Rs 480 and Rs 420 as against Rs 320 and Rs 280 respectively.
