Odisha: BJP’s 12-hour bandh cripples life in Binika

Subarnapur: Normal life was crippled in Binika town in the district of Odisha on Saturday following a 12-hour bandh call given by the district BJP unit over shortage of doctors and other staff at the Community Health Centre (CHC).

While vehicular traffic on the roads came to a grinding halt in Binika area due to the dawn-to-dusk bandh, educational institutions and business establishments remained closed today.

Bandh supporters also held a rally and resorted to picketing and road blockade in important junctions in the town.

“Health services in our area have been badly affected due to the shortage of doctors and other medical staff in this CHC for a long period time,” said a protestor.

“We will intensify the protest, if the State Government fails to fill up the physicians and other staff members in the CHC at the earliest,” he added.
