Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and the State office bearers gheraoed the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office here on Friday to protest against its alleged anti-people policies.

The saffron activists raised slogan against the BMC administration over its alleged involvement in rampant corruption and inefficiency of the body to deliver basic service to the people in the city.

Speaking to media persons, Vice President of State BJP unit Samir Mohanty said, “The BMC has failed to deliver the basic service to the people of the capital city due to its anti-people and vision-less policies.”

“Sewerage problems have not been solved in the city despite spending crores of rupees in this regard,” he pointed out saying the State government has also failed to distribute the land-patta to the slum dwellers.

The protestors even hurled eggs at the BMC office building during the demonstration. They later tried to barge into the office by attempting to break police barricades that led a minor scuffle between police personnel and the BJP activists including women.
