Odisha: BJD gears up for Bijepur Assembly Bypoll

KalingaTV News Network

BJDBhubaneswar: Although no dates have been declared for the assembly bypoll in Bijepur in Bargarh district, the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is not taking any chances and has started preparations to outwit the opposition.

Rajya Sabha MPs Prasanna Acharya and Pratap Deb, Ministers Sushant Singh and Snehangini Chhuria and MLA Debesh Acharya were called to Naveen Nivas this morning for a discussion on BJD’s strategy for the upcoming bypoll in Bijepur.

The BJD wants to prove a point in Bijepur and send a strong message to the people of Odisha that Amit Shah’s Odisha visit won’t be able to make a dent in the popularity of BJD or Naveen Patnaik.

The Bijepur seat fell vacant following the demise of Congress stalwart Subal Sahu recently. In 2014 assembly polls, Subal Sahu had defeated BJD bigwig Prasanna Acharya by just 460 votes.
