Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India on Saturday announced October 21st as the date of bypoll for Bijepur Assembly seat in Odisha.
According to the Election Commission, the last date of filing nominations for the bypoll is scheduled on September 30, while scrutiny of nominations will be held on October 1, withdrawal of nominations on October 3 and counting of votes on October 24.
The Bijepur Assembly seat had fallen vacant after BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik vacated it and retained the Hinjili seat in Ganjam district.
Patnaik had won from both the constituencies in the Assembly elections, held in May this year.
