Odisha Beggars Extend Financial Help For Jaga-Balia

Jaga BaliaRayagada: As a gesture of goodwill, a group of street beggars of the town on Thursday donated some amount of money for the treatment of craniopagus twins Jaga and Balila, who were separated at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

The beggars handed over their generous contribution to the District Administration in a sealed box requesting to send their money to the parents of the twins.

Notably, the conjoined twins Jaga and Balia of Milipada village under Phiringia block in Kandhamal district were separated at AIIMS on Oct 26. However, both the kids have been kept under doctors’ observation at AIIMS.

Balia, who was quite critical, has been showing physical movements, taking liquid food and responding to treatment since last three days. On the other hand, Jaga’s condition is getting better day by day. He now takes normal diet, listens music, plays with a ball.

The State Government had announced a financial assistance of Rs 1 crore for the twins from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). Besides, the people of Kandhamal district have recently donated their one-day salary for the treatment of the twins.
