Odisha Assembly Budget Session Begins With Governor’s Address

Bhubaneswar: The Budget session of the Odisha Assembly for the year 2022-23 began today with an address of Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal. The 9th session of 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly began with adherence to COVID-19 protocol.

Reportedly, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik attended the session post-pandemic after almost two years. He was attending the House on virtual mode due to COVID-19.

Governor Ganeshi Lal expressed his condolences to the bereaved families of departed souls and said “From ASHA, Anganwadi workers, to health professionals, teachers, students, farmers, entrepreneurs, the real strength of Odisha people was on full display during the pandemic.”

He also added that “Would like to reiterate in unequivocal terms that my govt is firmly committed to develop all regions of the state and empower all sections of the people and is all set to move into a transparent, technology-driven, transformed new Odisha.”

The discussion on Governor’s Address will take place for two days on March 26 and March 28. The next day, official business will be tabled and on March 30, Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari will present the budget. The session will conclude with a discussion on the Appropriation Bill on March 31.

The Covid test of all the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), staff, and other senior officials including the Speaker was conducted on March 23.
