Odisha Assembly adjourned again till 4 pm over Opposition uproar

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly has adjourned again till 4 pm following  uproar by the opposition leaders on Saturday.

Congress legislators created pandemonium by pouring water of holy river Ganga in the House and Congress MLA Tara Bahinipati dons as a priest and conducted the rituals and they demanded to dismiss of Minister of State (Home) Dibya Shankar Mishra.

As the members went on raising slogans unabated by flaunting placards, Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro had to adjourn the House till 4 PM.

Earlier, the Congress legislators staged a ‘dharna’ before two entry points and locked another gate of the House over Mamita Meher murder case.

They were demanding justice to the victim and removal of Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged close link with the prime accused in the case.

Prior to the beginning of the House proceedings, the Congress MLAs staged a ‘dharna’ on two of the entry points to the House holding placards demanding Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s reply, removal & arrest of minister Mishra and justice for Mamita Meher.

Earlier, the ruling party BJD on Thursday had staged a rally protesting the rise in LPG prices in front of the Gandhi statue inside the Odisha Assembly premises.
