Baripada: Hundreds of students from Balidiha Ashram School in Mayurbhanj district on Friday walked at least 18 kms to meet Collector and appraise him about their sufferings faced in the hostel.

The students took the decision after the District Welfare Officer (DWO) and PA-ITDA allegedly did not pay heed to their grievances.

Sources said, the SC/ST students headed towards the Collector’s office to put forth their complaints against Head Master (HM) of the school Himanshu Sekhar Patnaik for his ill treatment to them.

Talking to media persons, the students alleged that Patnaik has been torturing them physically and mentally. Sometimes, the Headmaster hadn’t provided them any food, the students alleged.

They also stated that the locals have also been creating problems for the hostel residents, particularly the girl students.

Meanwhile, Mayurbhanj Collector Surendra Kumar Meena suspended the school HM based on the complaints of the students.
