Odisha: African lion dies in Nandankanan

Bhubaneswar: In what could be considered as a sad news for the animal lovers, an African male lion died in Nandankanan Zoological Park here this morning.

According to sources, the eight-year-old lion died while undergoing treatment at the veterinary hospital in the zoo. It had fallen sick a couple of days ago.

The reason behind the death of the lion will be ascertained after the post-mortem, added the sources.

The lion was brought to the Zoo from Israel in 2015.

With the death of the African lion, the number of lions in Nandankanan reduced to 13. Out of the total 13 lions present in the zoo, six are male and seven female.
