Sundargarh: Odisha Vigilance conducted a raid on properties associated with the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Sundargarh district in Odisha on Friday morning on the allegation of accumulation of disproportionate assets.
Today, a Vigilance Cell Case relating to Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 as amended by P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against Biswajit Mohapatra, Additional District Magistrate, Sundargarh and his spouse for possession of assets disproportionate to known sources of income.
Mohapatra has been arrested in the case and will be forwarded to the Court of Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar today.
In the simultaneous searches conducted by Odisha Vigilance led by 8 Deputy superintendents of police, 2 Inspectors, 5 Assistant sub-inspectors, and other staff.
Based on a piece of reliable information, the vigilance sleuths have conducted raids at seven places in Khordha, Sundargarh, and Jagatsinghpur districts on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
1)residential house is located at Rudrapur, Balianta in Bhubaneswar
2) flat located at Nayapalli in Bhubaneswar
3) house at native Redhua Village in Raghunathpur of Jagatsinghpur
4) Relatives’ house at Jadatira Village in Manijanga of Jagatsinghpur
5) official residence located at Sundargarh town
6) official chamber located at Collectorate Sundargarh
7) residential accommodation of relative of Mohapatra located at OCL Campus in Rajgangpur
During the search following assets have been unearthed so far:
1. Cash over Rs. 3 lakhs recovered so far.
2. One double storied building at Naharkanta, Bhubaneswar worth about Rs. 89 lakhs.
3. One flat at Asiana, Rasulgarh, Bhubaneswar.
4. Fixed deposits over Rs. 1 crore which is under verification. More amount likely in multiple savings bank accounts, which is being verified. Steps taken to seal Locker and freeze Bank Accounts.
