Odisha ACF Soumya Ranjan’s death: Lie detection test of Bidyabharti concludes

Bhubaneswar: The polygraph test (lie detection) of Bidyabharti Panda, the wife of deceased Paralakhemundi Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra, has reportedly been completed.

A team of Forensic specialists conducted Bidyabharti’s lie detection test at the State Forensic Science Laboratory today. They said to have asked her over 100 questions during the 3-hour long lie detection test to ascertain the truth behind the mysterious death of her husband Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra.

Bidyabharti’s polygraph test by the Forensic specialists began with easy questions which were followed by difficult questions. The expert team is said to have asked her questions like how she came to know Paralakhemundi Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Sangram Keshari Behera?, when he reached the spot while Soumya Ranjan was battling for life?, how did Soumya Ranjan receive burn injuries?, why he was taken to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment?, who decided to take him to Cuttack?,  how was her married life with Soumya Ranjan?, why they had decided and signed an agreement not to have any relationship after marriage?, did she inform about Soumya Ranjan’s death to his family members and about her alleged extramarital affair with the DFO?.

Earlier on Saturday, the Crime Branch had conducted a polygraph test of Parlakhemundi Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Sangram Keshari Behera and deceased Soumya Ranjan’s cook Manmath Kumbha.

The family members of the ACF had named Bidya Bharati Panda, Sangram Keshari Behera and Manmath Kumbha as accused in the FIR they lodged at the Paralakhemundi police station after the death of the forest officer.

Apart from a CBI probe into the case, they also demanded the arrest and lie detection test of the trio.

Notably, the ACF had sustained burn injuries at his official quarters in Parlakhemundi on July 11. He succumbed while being treated at a private hospital in Cuttack on the following day.
