Odisha: Abandoned newborn girl rescued in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Police on Saturday rescued a newborn baby girl, who was lying abandoned in a forest near Kamakshya Debi chhak under Sadar police limits here in Odisha.

The child was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here. She was admitted to the sick newborn care unit (SNCU) at the DHH. Her health condition was stated to be stable when the last reports came in.

“Sadar Police IIC Sandhyarani Beura brought the newborn girl child to the hospital at around  7.10 AM today. The baby girl’s weight was 2 kg and 280 grams when admitted. However, she is now in a stable condition after the primary treatment”, Santosh Sahu, a paediatrician at Dhenkanal DHH, told reporters.

The baby girl was found naked and abandoned in the forest just hours after being born, he added saying her body was buried with sand.
