Odisha: 9 places record maximum temperature of 42 degree Celsius or above

Bhubaneswar: As many as nine places of Odisha recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degree Celsius or above on Monday, informed the Meteorological Centre here.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Sonepur reported the highest temperature of the day as it boiled at 43.3 degree Celsius today.

Sonepur was followed by Balangir (42.8), Jharsuguda (42.6) and Hirakud (42.6). The other five places where the mercury rose to or above the 42 degrees Celsius mark are Baripada (42.4), Sambalpur (42.2), Talcher (42.2), Bargarh (42) and Sundergarh (42).

The weather department also informed that 18 places including the above-mentioned 9 places witnessed the maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius or above today.
