Odisha: 8 including Sarpanch candidate detained for attacking vehicle of Dama Rout

Jagatsinghpur: As many as 8 persons including a Sarpanch candidate were detained in Tirtol Police Station for launching attack on the vehicle of former Odisha minister Dr. Damodar Rout on Monday.

As per reports, on Sunday evening a poll campaign rally was underway in the Sailo Panchayat area in Kujang area of Jagatsinghpur district. At this time Damodar Rout was passing through the same village as he was on his way to his village Mallipura. However, he stopped after seeing the rally.

Tension erupted after some people misbehaved with the former minister. It had been alleged that some people broke the mirror of his vehicle. As Rout informed about it to the Kujang BDO, Tirtol Police swung to action and detained 8 persons including the Sarpanch for questioning.
