Malkangiri: Three Maoists including two women have been shot dead in an encounter during a gunfight in Malkangiri district. The exchange of fire broke out between security forces and Maoists near Tulsi Pahad under Maithili police limits in Malkangiri district on Tuesday.
Reportedly, a combing operation by a joint team of District Voluntary Force (DVF) and Special Operation Group (SOG) following which the firing exchange took place.
As a result, two women Maoists along with one other Maoist were killed, while others managed to escape from the area. A SOG jawan also got injured during the exchange of bullets, added reports.
Till the last reports came in, two guns, one SLR, Insas and several incriminating materials were seized from the spot. Combing operation is underway in the area, says DGP Abhay.
