Baripada: At least three persons were killed and 30 others were injured in a road accident in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district today.
The accident took place when a bus overturned after hitting a motorcycle on NH-49 near Bombay Chhak under Jharpokharia police limits at around 12 pm.
The deceased have been identified as Satyaban Dera, his aunty Sakuntula Dera of Rairangpur, who were traveling on the two-wheeler, and the helper of the bus Kuna Barik.
While Satyaban died on the spot, Sakuntula and Kuna died while undergoing treatment in the district headquarters hospital in Baripada.
Jharpokharia police with the help of some of the locals rescued the injured passengers and admitted them to the hospital.
The bodies have been handed over to the kin of the deceased persons after the postmortem. Police have also started an investigation into the matter.
