Angul: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha police on Sunday recovered 22.5 tons of stolen coal and arrested a person whom it identified him as Ajaya Pradhan of Kankarei area in the district.
The STF, on the basis of reliable information, detected a case of transportation/ storage of illegal coal being stolen from Hingula Mines of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) in Talcher today at Kankarei village.
In the process, they seized 22.5 tons of coal loaded with one truck and other incriminating materials were from the possession of Pradhan.
A case has been registered at Industrial Police Station in Angul for necessary legal action. This refers to Industrial Police Station Case No. 65/ 2021 Under sections of 379/411/413/120(B)/34 of the IPC.
Further investigation is underway.
