Odisha: 2 killed, 20 injured as picnic bus collides head-on with oil tanker

Sambalpur:  At least two persons were killed and around 20 others sustained injuries when a bus they were travelling in collided head-on with an oil tanker near Kayakuda under Jujomura police station limits here in Odisha on Saturday.

One of the deceased has been identified as Shuka Das (48) of Gopalpur village under Balichandrapur block in Jajpur district. The other deceased is yet to be identified.

All the injured persons were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here, police said.

According to reports, around 40 people from Balichandrapur area were headed to Hirakud dam here for a weekend picnic. While returning, the bus they were travelling in collided head-on with an oil tanker near Kayakuda on Sambalpur-Cuttack NH-55.

Meanwhile, Sambalpur police registered a case in this connection and began imnvestigation into the matter.
