Odisha: 16 more MBBS students of VIMSAR test COVID-19 positive

Sambalpur: Another 16 more MBBS students of Burla Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Odisha’s Sambalpur district have tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

With the detection of 16 more cases, the positive tally in the premier medical institute has risen to 47 within two days as 31 MBBS students had tested positive for the SARS-n-CoV yesterday.

Meanwhile, VIMSAR Dean, Professor Jayshree Dora, informed that all the students and those who are suspected to have the virus have been kept in isolation to prevent the further spread of the infection.

It is to be noted here that several hostels and staff quarters of the VIMSAR have been declared as micro containment zones and buffer zones by the Sambalpur district administration yesterday.

Earlier in the day, a total of 288 Covid-19 positive cases including 53 in the 0-18 years age group have been detected positive in the State in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 10,47,674. This was informed by the Information and Public Relations (I&PR).

Among the 288 positives, 166 are quarantine cases and 122 are local contacts. With the detection of these 206 cases, currently, the State has 2221 active cases.
