Odisha: 10-month-old girl administered expired vaccine, family file police complaint

Sambalpur: In a shocking incident, a 10-month-old girl was administered an expired vaccine at a private hospital in Kuchinda of Odisha’s Sambalpur district.

One Rajesh Kumar Sahoo of Barakot area and his wife had taken his daughter to the private hospital for vaccination. When Rajesh had gone out for some work, his wife stayed back inside the hospital with the child.

However, by the time Rajesh came back to the hospital, the doctor had already vaccinated his daughter. He took the cover of the vaccine from the dustbin and went through it. To his surprise, he found out that the vaccine had already expired in 2017.

When Rajesh Kumar Sahoo asked the doctor about the expired vaccine, the doctor said that there will be no problem.

Later, Rajesh Kumar Sahoo filed a written complaint at the Kuchinda Police Station against the medico.

Meanwhile, the girl has been admitted at another hospital for treatment and her health condition is stated to be stable.
