Odia Para athlete Jayanti Behera bags 2nd Gold in Asian Youth Para Games

Dubai: Odisha’s ace Para athlete Jayanti Behera added one more medal to her kitty by winning gold in 400m in the ongoing 3rd Asian Youth Para Games-2017 in Dubai. This is her third medal in the five-day sports meet.

She had grabbed gold medal in the 200m in T-47 U-20 women category earlier on Tuesday and a silver medal in 100m race on Monday. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated the athlete for her success.

Subhrajit Maharana, another Odisha player who participated in the singles badminton event, lost to his country mate Nilesh Gaekwad 8-21, 17-21 in the quarterfinal rounds.

Altogether 600 athletes from across 45 countries are taking part in different sports including athletics, swimming, boccia, goalball, archery, chess, badminton, 10-pin bowling, power-lifting and table tennis.

The continental sports meet, which began on December 10,  is slated to conclude today.
