Khurda: Odia jawan Hemant Kumar Panda was martyred in a terrorist attack in Baramulla of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) today.
Panda, a native of Atharang village under Begunia Police limits of the district, was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition after he sustained bullet injury in a gun battle between the security personnel and terrorists. Unfortunately, he died while undergoing treatment.
The 24-year-old martyred soldier was the only son of Pabitra Panda.
Hemant had joined the services three years ago and had got his first appointment in Rajasthan. He had come to the village three months ago in holidays before going to Jammu & Kashmir.
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on the village after the locals heard the death news of the jawan.
