Jharsuguda: In a suspected case of deadly online game “Blue Whale Challenge” onslaught in the state, a nursing student from Lakhanpur Tehsil in Jharsuguda district was rescued in critical condition by family members while playing the game on Monday.
The victim has been identified as Janani Bagarti of Pipilimal village.
Family members of Janani kept a watch on her for the last couple of days after they found her mentally disturbed. While the victim remained aloof, she also kept playing on her mobile phone most of the times.
However, things worsened when the girl consumed drug pills and slit her wrist with a sharp object.
Family members of the girl immediately rushed her to the TRL Hospital in Belapahar and seized the mobile phone. While they suspect it to be a case of “Blue Whale Challenge”, no complaint has been registered with the police yet.
