Nuapada ZP win encouraging: Naveen

New Delhi: BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday hailed his party’s win in the home district of Odisha BJP President Basanta Panda.

Speaking exclusively to Kalinga TV, the Chief Minister said, “Victory in Nuapada ZP is highly encouraging as it is the constituency of the state president of BJP Basanta Panda. With the win, we have got all the seats in the district which reveals that the people of the state are with BJD. It has encouraged the party cadres.”

BJD candidate Ramnaresh Ahir won the Komna Zone II ZP seat by a margin of 7759 votes against his closest contender from the Congress party. While Ahir got 14,790 votes, Congress candidate Bhaktaram Sabar received 7031 votes. With 4483 votes in her favour, BJP candidate Phuleswar Bhoi was at the third place in the vote count.

Terming his Delhi visit fruitful, Naveen wished the very best to both the outgoing and incoming Presidents of India.

“It was good to work with the outgoing President Pranab Mukherjee. The incoming President Ramnath Govind is a good person, who truly deserved to be the President of the county. That’s why we supported him. On behalf of the people of Odisha I wish him good luck,” added Patnaik.

The CM is also said to have had discussions with several Union Minsters over issues of the state.

During his five-day trip to the national capital, Patnaik attended the 200 years of Paika Rebellion, personally met and congratulated the newly elected President Ramnath Kovind and also attended the dinner hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for outgoing President Mukherjee in Hyderabad Bhavan.
