Nuapada ACSO arrested in disproportionate assets case

Nuapada: Ratnakar Sethy, the Additional Civil Supplies Officer (ACSO) of Nuapada was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge Vigilance, Cuttack today.

Sethy was arrested for possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs 6,43,84,862 which he could not account for satisfactorily. In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.9 dt.03.02.2022 was registered against him and his spouse Bhagyalata Sethy U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act-2018/34 IPC.

Acting on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Ratnakar Sethy, the anti-corruption team conducted simultaneous searches at 6 places in Cuttack and Nuapada district yesterday.

A total of six teams led by 6 DSPs, 12 Inspectors and other staff conducted the road based on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack. During searches, the following assets have been unearthed;

1) One four storeyed building at Chauliaganj, Cuttack worth Rs.2,12,25,000.

2) One double storeyed building at Balisahi, PS-Madhupatna, Cuttack.

3) One triple storeyed building (Kalyan Mandap) named Natraj Palace at Balisahi, PS-Madhupatna, Cuttack.

4) Insurance deposits worth Rs.1,17,54,828/-Crore.

5) A farm house measuring area of 3 Acres of land covered by boundary wall with rest shed at Oranda, PS-Gurudijhatia, Cuttack. VIGILANCE DIRECTORATE ODISHA, CUTTACK.

6) 4 plots including 3 plots at Chauliaganj and 1 plot at Balisahi in Cuttack town.

7) Bank deposits including Fixed deposits in the name of Sri Ratnakar Sethy and his family members worth Rs.89,24,081.

8) Gold ornaments weighing 500 gms & silver ornaments weighing 2.55 Kg worth Rs.20,94,000.

9) Household articles worth Rs 16,54,900.

10) 3 two-wheelers.

11) Cash and other movable and immovable properties, all totalling to over Rs 6.73 Crore.

After a thorough search, inventory and further inquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sethy were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs 6,43,84,862 which constituted 570% of his known sources of income.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
