Nua Odisha Nirmana Abhijan: Over 10,000 youths to take pledge on Utkal Divas

Bhubaneswar: More than 10,000 youths from the state will take pledge before the Sun God and Sea in Konark in the name of great heroes who played leading role in the formation of Utkal Pradesh on the occasion of Utkal Divas on April 1, informed Secretary of Prachi Trust Lalit Kumar Rath on Thursday.

Prachi Trust, a social organization has named the initiative as ‘Nua Odisha Nirmana Abhijan’, which will be inaugurated by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan before sunrise at the Chandrabhaga Sea beach in Konark, Rath announced in a press meet here today.

“The youths will take pledge to fulfill the dream of Great heroes and legendries of Odisha like Madhu Babu, Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati, Maharaja Shriramchandra Bhanjadeo, Byasakabi Fakir Mohan Senapati, Swabhaba kabi Gangadhar Meher, Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das who had dreamt of a state enriched with rich culture and glory,” Rath said.

“Despite the state having huge possibilities full of natural resources, huge water resources, forest, longest coastal belt and much laborious man power, Odisha is still in back foot of prosperity. Being a part of this campaign the youth of Odisha will take a strong pledge to make Odisha one of the most prosperous state of the country,” he added.

Rath also stated that thousands of youth will travel towards Chadrabhaga after getting the divine blessings (Agyan Mala) from Lord Jagannath in Puri,  Kakatpur Maa Mangala Temple, Sakhigopal and Bhagabati Temple of Konark on the night before Utkal Divas Celebration.

Sun God will be worshipped at Chandrabhaga before sunrise. Union Petroleum Minister will preside over the ceremony along with thousands of youth and offer prayer to the Sun God, he revealed.

After the ceremony, Upendra Maharana, the successor of Bisu Maharana and Dharmapada who are related to the Great heritage of Konark Temple will administer pledge for ‘Nua Odisha Nirmana Abhijan’, stated Rath.

Utkal Divas or Odisha Day is celebrated on April 1 every year all over Odisha to commemorate the formation of the state as a separate state on April 1, 1936.
