Bhubaneswar: Renowned Ollywood singer Humane Sagar joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in presence of party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Sunday.
The popular singer joined Odisha’s ruling party at Naveen Niwas here this afternoon, party sources said.
Ollywood personalities joining politics in the state are nothing new. Veteran actor/director Prashanta Nanda, Mega star Sidhant Mohapatra and popular actor Anubhab Pattnaik are the parliamentarians, representing BJD. While Sidhant is the two-time Lok Sabha member from Berhampur constituency, Prasanta and Anubhab are the members of the upper house.
Likewise, actor Akash Das Nayak is a BJD MLA from Korei Constituency while senior actor Muzibulla Khan aka Muna Khan has been appointed as the Chairman of Cashew Development Corporation
Besides, actors Aparajita Mohanty, Mahasweta Ray, Pinky Pradhan, Bijay Mohanty, Uttam Mohanty, Mihir Das, Pintu Nanda, Sritam Das, Kuna Tripathy and several others have joined various political parties.
