Bhubaneswar: Nor’wester Rain accompanied by heavy showers, along with a strong squall and hail, lashed several parts of Kandhamal and Jajpur districts on Wednesday evening. Normal life came to a halt as the heavy rain, which lasted for about an hour, took residents by surprise.
As the wind raged at more than 50kmph, trees were uprooted and electricity was snapped at many places. The sudden rain also destroyed crops and disrupted road transport.
As per reports, two persons at Dumudibandha in Kandhamal were left injured as heavy hailstones pounded during the storm. The injured persons have been identified as Sumitra Patra and Rakesh Patra.
They are currently undergoing treatment at Dumudibandha Community Health Centre.
