NITI AayogNew Delhi: In a major development, the NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog on Tuesday announced a partnership with Odisha and five other states to radically transform their Health and Education sectors under its Sustainable Action for Transforming Human Capital (SATH) initiative.

NITI Aayog shortlisted Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand to transform their education sector under SATH and Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Karnataka to transform their health sector.

The Aayog had invited all states and Union Territories to participate in its SATH initiative to transform their health and education sectors, aiming to provide a major push to competitive and cooperative federalism across the country.

States then made presentations for each sector, which was assessed by a committee comprising senior members of NITI Aayog and Health and Human Resources Development (HRD) ministries. The States highlighted the initiatives undertaken by them and their willingness to accelerate improvement.

These six states were chosen after a thorough technical evaluation on comprehensive metrics to determine the potential for impact and likelihood of success in the two key sectors.
