Nilagiri MLA, Tehsildar engage in verbal spat over eviction drive

Balasore: A verbal spat broke out between Nilagiri MLA Sukant Kumar Nayak and local Tehsildar over an eviction drive inside the Nilagiri court premises in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday.

According to reports, some makeshift ‘moharir’ offices in the Nilagiri court premises near Sub Collector’s office were demolished in the presence of Tehsildar Sushrita Tudu, additional Tehsildar Rakesh Panda this morning.

However, Nayak reached the spot and opposed the eviction drive alleging that the constructions were being demolished without rehabilitating the occupants.

Soon after, an altercation broke out between the MLA and Tehsildar.

The Tehsildar was seen saying – “I am not talking to you” repeatedly to the legislator.

 

Following the incident, the BJP MLA staged dharna in front of Nilagiri sub-collector’s office alleging that he was misbehaved by Tehsildar Sushrita Tudu.

Later, supporters of MLA locked the office of Tehsildar protesting the eviction drive.
