Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Nayak quits BJD

Balasore: Close on the heels of Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi’s resignation from the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) yesterday, Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Nayak today quit the conch party alleging a brewing conspiracy against him and neglect.

Nayak, who submitted his resignation to party supremo Naveen Patnaik today claimed of being neglected by party leaders and suffering mental torture in the hands of Balasore district BJD president.

Citing an instance in his letter, Nayak claimed he was neglected during joining of an Opposition party leader into BJD recently, who had been defeated at a margin of 13,000 votes in the 2014 election.

Notably,  Nayak who started his political career under legendary Biju Patnaik in 80’s became r Yuba Janata president in Nilgiri Constituency from 1991-94. However, later he joined government job and remained away from politics. Again he resigned from government service in 2014 and got elected as a MLA from Nilgiri constituency in 2014 from BJD.
