Cuttack: It seems Niali Block in Cuttack district is going to become sheep less soon as sheep killing continues unabated with three more sheep being killed at Ghodatikili village under the Block on late Tuesday night.

According to reports, three sheep belonging to Tukuni Samal of Ghodatikili village were killed by the unidentified mysterious animal last night while all were asleep. The matter came to light only when Samal  found the carcasses of the sheep in sheep-pen this morning.

There were foot prints and nail marks of the killer in the sheep-pen, however, they are not enough to identify the mysterious animal, an eyewitness said.

The unknown killer has created havoc in the area by killing at least 35 sheep since November 18. Though the forest department  has put cags in different places in the area to trap the animal, it is empty handed till now.

The killing spree of sheep had begun from June this year. Over 250 sheep were mysteriously killed in the Niali region for the last eight months following which the government had deployed forest officials and wildlife experts from Dehradun to trace the predator, but could not succeed.
