NIA quizzing ruined my social status says Akhtar Hussein Khan

Cuttack: Expressing his inability to cope up with the situation arising out of NIA interrogation recently, Akhtar Hussein Khan of Samantarapur village under Kissan Nagar area here has claimed that the incident has maligned his social image and left him in a state of disdain.

Speaking to Kalinga TV today, an otherwise calm looking Khan informed in a choking voice that he has witnessed a big change in neighbours’ attitude following his return from Delhi. Pointing it as a worse situation, he claimed that even the owner of his rented house is mulling to evict him.

“Nobody in my locality tells anything on my face but I can well understand their dissatisfaction on me from their behaviour. Now I am so ashamed of myself that can’t move out of home. My social prestige, status have gone due to a crime which I have not committed,” said Khan.

It has also come to notice that Khan’s plight has come in the way of his son’s education and his occupation.

“While I was working in a garage to earn my bread and butter, I don’t think the garage owner would allow me to work there now. If so happens I would definitely lose my livelihood posing a serious challenge to my family,” apprehended Khan.

In his reply to a question whether he would take legal route to get compensation for the damage caused by NIA interrogation, of which he came clean, Khan answered in negative.

“To take the legal route, one has to have a lot of money which a poor person like me can’t afford,” he said.

Khan underwent a four-day marathon interrogation by NIA recently over suspected terror link. He faced the music after an LeT terrorist Nayeem arrested from Lucknow on November 27 named him during interrogation. However, Khan was given clean chit by the NIA at a later stage.
