Berhampur: In a shocking incident, a newly-married woman was allegedly hammered to death by her in-laws in Gobindapur village under Sheragada police limits in Ganjam district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Pinky Swain (25).
Pinky, who had married to one Suraj Swain of the village few days back, was found in a pool of blood this morning by some neighbours. A hammer with which she had been crushed to death was also spotted by the side of her body.
After getting intimated about the murder, Sheragada Police rushed to the spot and seized the body for autopsy.
As the in-laws of the deceased were found missing from the house during the recovery of the body, police are suspecting their involvement in the murder.
Parents of the deceased have also lodged a case against her in-laws in connection with the suspicious death.
