Newborn stolen from MKCG hospital in Odisha

Berhmapur: An unknown woman allegedly stole a newborn baby girl from Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati Medical College and Hospital (MKCG) here on Saturday.

Sources said that one Bhikari Naha of Narayanpur village under Kabisuryanagar block had admitted his wife Jyoti in the hospital after she complaint labour pain. She delivered a baby girl last night.

Jyoti’s mother was attending her at the hospital. However, an unknown woman asked Jyoti’s mother to collect a ticket saying that the newborn was supposed to be administered vaccine. When the elderly woman went to bring the ticket, the accused woman fled with the newborn.

When Jyoti’s mother returned to the ward after collecting ticket, she found the newborn was missing. Later, they lodged a complaint with Baidyanathpur police.

Meanwhile, the police have started a probe into the matter.
