Malkangiri: The mutilated body of a newborn baby girl was found in premises of the District Headquarter Hospital here in Odisha on Friday.
According to reports, locals spotted the body behind the hospital early in the morning. They immediately informed the hospital authorities and called the local police.
The police rushed to the spot and seized the body.
The body of a newborn baby girl was found with a leg being detached from her waist and several injury marks on her body parts, a police official said.
Prima facie it appeared that the girl was dumped soon after her birth and the injuries on the body were caused by some animals, he added.
Efforts are on to identify the parents of the newborn and further investigation is on, police said.
